SAF basics

The purpose is the access to a reference basis for knowledge and feelings sharing about the audio universe.

It is allowed by the bypass of usual constraints of classical listening/broadcast systems.

This bypass has a cost: since we don't want to have copyright issues jeopardizing the encyclopedia, no sound is directly accessible via the website but carefully selected embedded resources.

The listening of music is a highly variable and personal process. But sometimes one lacks of global sight for the discovering of similar groups.

Many softwares have suggestion features, that may be quite effective, but often seem too "black box". This website gives a more playful, poetic and intuitive exploration system.

The representation as a universe allows an organisation system that corresponds well to the musical environment logic, even if the metaphor has limits.

Access

The registration is very quick and simple, only requiring username, email and password.

Explorers: Once connected and registered as Explorer, one may define "flags" on tracks (= continents), to keep track of information. One can indicate that the track has been listened by the user ("Visited" flag) and/or that he especially appreciated the track ("Favorite" flag). The flag addition is done on the continent page. Note that flag informations are strictly personal.

The registration is also mandatory to become an active cartographer, as described below.

Cartographers: Cartography rights can be given by the admin to motivated explorers, so that they can help building the encyclopedia at different levels.

To get specific rights, use the accreditation request form (can also be found on the Cartographer index page), and shortly explain your request.
